Newsletter of the Lower

Hunter Children’s Activity Van
Term 4 November 2009

What’s on this month…

Well, well, well.  How quickly is this year flying by?

We hope your children have enjoyed the Mobile Pre-school
Adventure and we thank you for
choosing our service to send your
child to for their
Pre-school education.

Programming and Venue news

Lochinvar

Numbers at this venue are exploding which is great to see and our licensed places will increase to 20 at this venue from next year with the new flash fencing.  Mr Treloar has confirmed we will be in the hall for a further 12 months and he has offered an option for us to remain in the school grounds in a different building in years to come.  We are very appreciative of this.  Thank you to all the parents parking in safe places and holding your child’s hand whilst walking to Pre-school.

Gresford

Our garden is looking spectacular, thanks heaps to Sylvia and the work crew involved in their refurbishing.  The children love the fresh strawberries and lettuce.  The soft fall is even closer and may even be in place when
you read
this newsletter.  Numbers are a little low here, but thanks

to a fully functioning playgroup, we are confident that enrolments
will build.  Suggestions to increase numbers
are welcome.

Mulbring and Wollombi

During 4th term we are focusing on our School Readiness skills.
These experiences include identifying
and naming numbers and
letters, refining pencil control,
writing names, looking after our own belongings, asking for help when needed and forming more ndependence

during a busy Pre-school day.  Other areas that we will be including in our programme are multicultural aspects, road safety, weather and
Christmas.

*Please note that WEDNESDAYS at Wollombi is
an
EGG FREE DAY*

Christmas Parties

Christmas parties are just around the corner.  They will be held on the following dates.
 Gresford – Monday 14th  December
Mulbring – Tuesday 15th December
Lochinvar – Thursday 17th December
Wollombi – Thursday 17th December

More information will be coming home soon regarding timetables and party food for these days.

Enrolments for 2010

It is crucial that you pay the deposit on your enrolment fee ASAP if
your child is returning to
Pre-school next year.  It can be placed in the
fee tin
noting that it is the deposit for the 2010 Enrolment Fee.
It is very exciting at the moment that it looks
like the service will
continue at all it’s current venues
in 2010.  However, if current
enrolment figures are n
ot confirmed with payment of deposits, this
could
change.

We also need your support with new enrolments.  If you know of any
children that would be interested in attending one of our venues,
please do not hesitate
to see one of the teachers for an information
pack.
Also any suggestions for other ways to promote the service and encourage enrolments are always welcome.

Committee News

The next Committee Meeting will be held Thursday 3rd December 2009 at  85 Cessnock Road Weston at 6.30pm.

 From DoCS

DoCS are currently reviewing our funding using calculations based on our enrolment numbers from last year and this year.

Donations

Toilet paper, tissues, liquid soaps and paper towels are always welcomed by our service.  As are any reusable quality old items for our dramatic play.  There are lots of useful things discarded, and we would welcome them as a resource.

Keep them safe in the back seat

Please be aware that from March 2010 new safety regulations regarding car restraints for children up to the age of 7 will come into force.

More information is available from all RTA offices, by calling 132213 or from www.rta.nsw.gov.au

Fees

Please ensure your fees payments are made on time and kept up to date.  If fee payments are a problem, please do not hesitate to see one of the teachers at your venue or to call Liz in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (02 49362115).

Fundraising news

The Halloween Disco was a great night with lots of fun and dancing.  Thank you to the Committee for their hard work in organising this function and to the families who supported it.  $318 was raised!

The cookbook has been slightly delayed and is now due for production in time for Mother’s Day 2010.  Sally is still busy collecting recipes for the cookbook, please send in your favourite family recipes to be included in this fabulous fundraiser.  You can email them to the base lhactivityvan@bigpond.com

Sunscreen Policy

We thank you for your efforts in applying sunscreen to your children and working towards the broader brimmed hats.  Now is the best age to work on good sun safe habits.

Pre-school Rules

During Pre-school hours, we have rules that we follow so we are always safe and can enjoy each others company while playing and learning.  We have noticed that of an afternoon when parents have arrived to collect their children, some children are going outside of the venue without an adult.

One of our main rules is that “The children are not to go outside without the teachers”.  We ask that you help us enforce this safety rule by keeping your children inside with you until you are both ready to leave Pre-school.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
